Sylvia Duarte

Associate Attorney
  • Profile

Sylvia Duarte is originally from the Houston-area, spending most of her childhood in Baytown. She attended Baylor University in Waco, TX, where she graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Although her plans were to continue to law school, her studies were put on hold as she returned to Houston and worked in the IT field and as a corporate trainer for the next 9 years. She was able to continue her studies in the fall of 2008 and earned her Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth in 2010.

During her time in law school, Sylvia concentrated on family law. She represented family law clients while a third-year law student under the supervision of a licensed attorney in the school’s Law Clinic. This helped prepare her to open her own firm immediately after graduation. She successfully ran her firm for 9 years before joining the Law Office of Mark M. Childress.

Sylvia has represented clients in all types of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, and adoption cases. She is also fluent in Spanish and is a trained mediator.

When not working, Sylvia enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She has travelled extensively throughout the US and Mexico, as well as parts of Europe. She hopes to be able to check South America off soon.
