Texas residents may be interested in learning that Track Palin, the son of Sarah Palin, is headed to court with his second child's mother over a custody petition. The mother of his second baby has filed for full custody of the child as well as child support.
Track Palin reportedly assaulted the baby's mother in January 2016. He later entered a guilty plea to committing domestic violence. The incident reportedly occurred at Sarah Palin's home. In the incident, he reportedly punched his second mother in her face and knocked her down.
According to reports, Sarah Palin testified in court that her son was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of his military service. While Track did in fact served in the military, he was never deployed. He is still embroiled in an ongoing custody battle with the mother of his older child as well. In that case, he is only allowed to visit with his daughter four times per month, and he is not allowed to have her for any overnight stays.
Courts make child custody determinations according to what is in theĀ best interests of the child. When one parent is abusive towards the other parent, the courts take the domestic violence history into account when issuing their rulings. In some cases, parents may only be granted supervised visits with their children. In egregious cases, the parents may have no visitation at all. People who are victims of domestic violence and who need help with custody and visitation matters might want to consult with an experienced family law attorney who might proceed to file motions to request that the abusive parent have either no or very limited visitation.
