Britney Spears, Kevin Federline resolve child support dispute

Texas fans of singer Britney Spears may have heard that she and her ex, Kevin Federline, were in a child support dispute. Federline was claiming that the amount originally set should be raised since Spears was making so much more money at her residency in Las Vegas. Federline, on the other hand, cannot get dancing work anymore because of his age and has struggled to make ends meet.

Spears and Federline have two sons. She was paying him $20,000 per month in child support, but he argued that this amount did not allow him to keep up with the lavish lifestyle she could offer the children. Spears' father had initially offered Federline another $10,000 monthly to settle the dispute out of court, but Federline turned it down. Spears' worth is estimated to be $56 million.

The two finally reached a settlement that satisfied both of them. Reportedly, Spears will pay Federline several thousand additional dollars per month in child support. There were additional provisions in the agreement that were private. Spears will also pay Federline $100,000 for his legal expenses.

Child custody and support can be one of the most contentious and emotional elements of a divorce. Both parents may fight for sole custody because they want as little time away from their children as possible. It is important in all of these situations to stay focused on the best interests of the child. Parents may need to set aside their differences so they can provide a stable environment for their children.
