Swift action essential in international child custody disputes

A child custody issue for a Texas parent becomes especially difficult to resolve if the other parent removes the child from the country. Then, the matter enters the arena of international law. Over 90 countries recognize the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, also known as the Hague Convention. If the child is taken to a participating nation, then the tenets of this convention could guide the return process, but it is recommended that a parent take legal action swiftly.

Parenting plan challenges for non-custodial parents

Although some Texas parents are able to put their differences aside to ensure that a post-divorce transition is as seamless as possible for their kids, there are situations in which a custodial parent might use their position to lash out at the other party. Meanwhile, the non-custodial party might face an uphill battle in requesting favors such as extra parenting time or the right to participate in certain activities. Although joint legal custody is often awarded in such family law matters, the individual with primary physical custody may use inaccurate interpretations of a parenting plan to hinder an ex-spouse's involvement with their child.

Child abuse and custody in Texas

During the emotions that often accompany a divorce, parents may make false accusations against each other. For instance, one parent may claim that the other is an abuser while the other may claim that the child was brainwashed into believing that to be the case. This puts judges and others in an awkward position as they must ensure that children are not put into the custody of someone who may actually harm them.

Avoiding custody disputes over summer vacations

Divorced Texas couples who have the most organized parenting plans might find that they still can run into disputes when summer vacation comes around. Since children's schedules and activities changes during the summer, parenting plans might be affected in both time spent with each parent and in child support arrangements. One way to avoid these types of disputes is to include a provision regarding summer vacation time.

Blac Chyna and Tyga embroiled in child custody dispute

Music fans in Texas are likely familiar with Angela Renee White. The 27-year-old model, who is better known by her stage name Blac Chyna, has appeared in countless hip-hop music videos, and she made the news in 2012 when she announced that she was planning to marry her longtime boyfriend Micheal Ray Stevenson. The couple split up in 2014, but White gave birth to a baby boy fathered by Stevenson, who more widely known as the rapper Tyga, in 2012. The well-known model was once again the subject of tabloid headlines on April 5 when it was announced on Instagram that she and Robert Kardashian Jr. were engaged to be married, but gossip columnists soon had an even more salacious story to write about the video star and her 26-year-old former beau.
